DIVE INTO LAW & INNOVATION

The intersection of law, technology and policy is more critical than ever in today’s rapidly evolving world. Over two weeks, the Law & Innovation program offers an informed exploration of how these areas converge, preparing you to address the legal challenges of tomorrow.

Whether you’re considering a career in law, policy, human rights or the evolving technology sector, this program will deepen your understanding of how innovation is reshaping the legal interactive lessons, collaborative team sessions and a real multimedia case study, you will hone your skills in legal analysis, negotiation and public speaking, gaining practical tools to navigate and influence the complex landscape of law and innovation.

Participants will work with a multimedia case, engage in a dynamic competition, and develop skills in legal analysis, negotiation, public speaking, and strategic decision-making.         CREDIT RECOGNITION

        If you join IE University’s Summer Program for a two week module and opt in to the additional academic deliverable, you will receive a Certificate of Achievement indicating an academic workload equivalence of 3 ECTS credits.

        Completing two modules with the deliverable corresponds to 6 ECTS, and three modules to 9 ECTS.

        To qualify for credit recognition, you must fulfill all course requirements and submit the additional deliverable within two weeks of finishing your last module.         Typical Day in the Law & Innovation program

        Your daily schedule is crafted to keep you challenged and engaged, with a mix of activities that encourage hands-on learning and critical reflection. This is what a typical day in the Law & Innovation program looks like:

        Week 1:

        Monday to Friday: 

        • 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. | Classes.
        • Afternoon: Optional cultural activities.

        Monday to Thursday:

        • 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. | Classes.
        • Afternoon: Optional cultural activities
        • Friday: The last day is dedicated to your final presentations and a graduation and awards ceremony.

          Professor of Law, IE University
          • Erika is the Head of Legal Innovation and Design at Simmons Wavelength.
          • She is an award-winning lawyer, innovator, and educator whose sweet spots include culture creation, leadership, strategy, teaming, technology, and cross-border initiatives.
          • Having dedicated more than a decade to change, creativity, and client centricity in the legal profession, Erika works with a wide variety of clients across the globe to apply legal design to reimagine the legal experience.

          Johanna Jacobsson
          Professor of Law, IE University
          • Johanna Jacobsson is CEO and Founder of Lawcrosse, a legal consultancy, and Adjunct Professor at IE University (Madrid, Spain).
          • She holds a PhD from the European University Institute (Florence, Italy, 2016) and LL.B., LL.M. and BA degrees from the University of Helsinki (Finland).
          • She teaches international trade, EU and public international law. Her research and consultancy focus on services liberalization, trade agreements, and regulation of digital and professional services.
          • Her doctoral dissertation was published by Cambridge University Press in 2019.
