IE University had the honor of welcoming Bernard Ruiz-Picasso, Founder of FABA (Fundación Almine y Bernard Ruiz-Picasso para el Arte), for a two-part visit across its Segovia and Madrid campuses, where he engaged students and faculty in thought-provoking discussions on art, legacy, and the evolving role of cultural institutions.
In Segovia, Ruiz-Picasso joined adjunct faculty member Anna Wieck for a candid conversation about growing up as the grandson of Pablo Picasso, and the responsibilities and insights that come with preserving such a renowned artistic heritage. He shared the behind-the-scenes story of the creation of the Museo Picasso Málaga (MPM), a major cultural institution developed with his mother and a team of experts and institutions. Highlighting the importance of collaboration, innovation, and research in museum curation, Ruiz-Picasso explained how MPM continues to shape Andalusia’s cultural landscape through its dynamic approach to storytelling and exhibition design.
Following the Segovia masterclass, the conversation continued at the IE Tower in Madrid, where Ruiz-Picasso participated in a roundtable discussion with art experts and collectors, reflecting on the broader implications of artistic legacy and cultural innovation.
Bernard Ruiz-Picasso’s visit reminded all participants of the enduring and transformative power of art, memory, and cultural engagement.
