IE School of Humanities and IE Law School launched the Arts & Law Speaker Series, a series of conferences that aim to deep dive into the intersection of intellectual property and the rights involving artworks, providing valuable insights from professionals in these fields. The joint initiative includes a masterclass and a networking cocktail after the session.

The inaugural event, Artworks and Their Legal Protection, featured Luis María Benito, Intellectual Property Lawyer at Bamboo.Legal. He provided an engaging introduction to the legal framework protecting the rights of artists. Students explored key topics such as what defines a work of art, the economic and moral rights of authors and the practical measures to safeguard these rights.

Supported by IE Campus Life, the event attracted students from IE Law School’s undergraduate and master’s programs, along with members of IE University's Arts & Business Club. Attendees had the opportunity to engage in thought-provoking discussions on the intersection of law and the arts, gaining valuable insights into the legal dimensions of artistic creation.

The Arts & Law Speaker Series will continue throughout the Spring Semester with additional sessions featuring experts in the field. On March 13, Rafael Mateu de Ros, Founding Partner of Ramón y Cajal Abogados, will lead a session at IE Tower. Later in the month, on March 26, Marta Suárez Mansilla, Arts & Culture Lawyer and CEO of Artworld Law, will also take the stage to share her insights.
