IE University to Host the Opening of Jaipur Literature Festival Spain 2025

A discussion event titled 'Stephen Hawking: Genius at Work' taking place at IE University.

The Jaipur Literature Festival organizers made the announcement at the ‘Curtain Raiser’ event held at IE Tower.

IE University has been chosen as the venue by the Jaipur Literature Festival organization to present the 2025 edition of this prestigious literary event’s chapter in Spain, which will take place from June 5 to 8 in Valladolid.

The presentation of the upcoming edition of the festival in Spain featured the participation of Dinesh Patnaik, Ambassador of India to Spain; Santiago Íñiguez de Onzoño, Executive President of IE University; Manuel Muñiz, Provost of IE University; and Sanjoy Roy, Managing Director of Teamworks Arts.

Santiago Íñiguez de Onzoño, who participated in the Jaipur Literature Festival in India last February, said: "At IE University, we promote the study of the humanities to educate our students to become global citizens, and to foster critical thinking."

The opening event also featured a conversation between Shana Cooperstein, Assistant Professor at IE School of Humanities, and Roger Highfield, science journalist and author of ‘Stephen Hawking: Genius at Work’. Their panel explored the intersection of literature, science, and innovation through the example and legacy of Stephen Hawking, discussing how these fields influence modern society and global challenges.

Last year, IE School of Humanities hosted the inaugural ceremony of Jaipur Literature Festival Spain 2024 at IE Tower. On that occasion, renowned figures such as Namita Gokhale, Roger Cohen, and Christina Lamb shared their perspectives on the role of literature, the importance of cultural diversity, and the future of international order.

By hosting this pre-event at IE Tower, IE School of Humanities reaffirms its commitment to literature, fostering an environment for reflection and dialogue within one of the world’s most prestigious literary festivals. "This collaboration underscores IE University’s dedication to advancing culture, encouraging critical thinking, and promoting interdisciplinary exchange", said Catalina Tejero, Dean of IE School of Humanities.
