Visit to The Beauty of Chaos Tour at Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza

Students from IE University took part in a guided tour called The Beauty of Chaos: On the Complexity of Nature at the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza. 

The tour, led by Miguel Peiró García, who holds a PhD in Particle Physics and Cosmology, examined the themes of chaos, complexity, and emergence within the realms of science, nature, and visual art.

Students investigated the creations of Pissarro, O’Keeffe, Pollock, and Rothko, leading to discussions about the interplay between human intuition, scientific thought, and artistic expression. Dr. Peiró remarked that artists have often anticipated patterns and principles that science later substantiated, relying on their intuitive insights and careful observations. This interplay between disciplines sparked thoughtful discussion among students from various undergraduate and Master’s programs, deepening their appreciation for both the complexity of nature and the power of the humanities to engage with it.

This event is organized with the IE Sustainability Office and ties into a broader collaboration with the museum and La Academia de Arte y Ciencia.
