Beijiao Gong
My name is Beijiao Gong and I am from China. I studied business administration in China, and then went on to earn my first master’s degree in marketing in Hong Kong. I’m passionate about learning, specifically about international organizations and trade in developing regions, which is why I decided to pursue a second master’s degree at IE University. Outside of studying, I love getting to know new people and spending time basking in the sun in Retiro park in Madrid.
Broadening cultural and intellectual horizons in Madrid
Moving to Madrid to study at IE University was a new, welcomed challenge for Beijiao Gong. She chose to pursue the Master in International Relations because she wanted to learn about the international business world through a global lens. She was specifically looking to learn more about the private and public sectors, as well as the theory and strategies behind international relations.
The decision to study international relations in Spain was easy for Beijiao, especially due to the full scholarship she earned from the IE University and the China Scholarship Council (CSC). These scholarship opportunities are available to students who excel in the classroom and who are looking to immerse themselves in a diverse group of like-minded people. Thanks to the support she received from IE University and the CSC, Beijiao has been able to successfully start her life in Madrid with a stronger sense of national pride. She loves hearing people talk about China from their perspectives, and loves that she has the chance to add her ideas about the country she calls home.

Although the scholarship was a plus, Beijiao knew that IE University would give her an international learning environment full of connections from across the world. Beijiao has loved the connections and networking opportunities on offer thanks to IE Connects, a one-stop shop for any event that you’d be interested in trying. From networking and wine tasting to music days, various sporting events and exploration of the arts, IE Connects gives students access to the IE Community. Beijiao has tried boxing and sailing, and really loves discovering new hobbies and meeting new people.
Life at IE University has given Beijiao more chances to expand her horizons and be open to everything, both academically and personally. In the Master in International Development, she receives challenges that are related to Chinese politics, giving her a chance to rethink decisions as a global citizen instead of solely as a Chinese citizen.
As for her future, Beijiao would like to work as an intern in an international trade organization with hopes to land a role after gaining some experience. She’s proud of how far she’s come and wants to continue learning.
Beijiao would suggest future students to come into the program with a strong foundation of the national conditions of China and an intense curiosity about the trending global news.
