Ricardo Ribeiro
My name is Ricardo Ribeiro. After graduating with a degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics, I began working in the NGO sector in collaboration with the EU, where I focused on European mobility projects designed to encourage EU citizens, particularly youth, to engage with the opportunities and tools available to them. I've always been drawn to technology and interdisciplinary approaches, and I believe that analyzing challenges from multiple perspectives provides a competitive advantage in today's world.

Q&A with Ricardo Ribeiro
Tell us how you came to join IE University.
When I was working in collaboration with the EU, IE University reached out to offer me a position as an Admissions Events Advisor, which proved to be a transformative experience. It provided me with invaluable tools for professional growth that allowed me to develop exponentially.
When it came time to pursue further education, the Master in Technology & Global Affairs felt like the natural next step. I was eager to combine the practical skills I'd gained with my academic foundation, and there was no better place to do that than IE University itself.
What professional or academic experiences led you to develop an interest in technology and global affairs?
Technology and interdisciplinary approaches are key in today’s world, so this program is exactly where I need to be. I was fortunate to work at an organization that championed technological innovation at every level, which really ignited my passion for this field. At IE University, tech innovation and implementation were part of my daily work, which made it clear that pursuing a master's in this area was the right decision.
What aspects of the Master in Technology & Global Affairs have you found most valuable so far?
I really appreciate the practical approach of the courses and the fact that nearly all my professors are currently active in the sectors they teach. This brings real-world relevance to every lesson. I'm also particularly excited about how the program integrates data-driven decision-making. As the world is increasingly moving in this direction, developing this skill allows me to drive significant impact across any organization. It's exactly the kind of preparation needed to navigate today's complex technological landscape.
How would you describe the community and learning environment at IE University?
This is genuinely one of my favorite aspects of the institution. IE University provides strong incentives to build community and foster practical learning. The community is incredibly diverse and active—it functions as a global network with reach across the world. Creating something new from scratch isn't just about having a good idea; it's about connecting with the right people. I'm confident anyone can find those connections within the IE Community, no matter what field or project they're pursuing.
How has the program influenced your perspective on the intersection between technology and global issues?
The program is fundamentally shaping how I approach technology and analyze global dynamics. I'm now aware of numerous factors and correlations that aren't immediately obvious at first glance. That's the key advantage of this master’s program: you develop the ability to analyze complex systems and identify patterns that affect current global dynamics. These insights are crucial and must be reflected in both governmental policies and corporate strategies for technology development and implementation.
How do you see yourself applying what you've learned in the Master in Technology & Global Affairs to your professional future?
I see myself working in public affairs and policy research. This program equips you with the tools to analyze patterns and adapt to the changes that technology brings. I envision myself identifying policy opportunities and threats, providing strategic advice to organizations, monitoring and analyzing political initiatives, and engaging directly with key decision-makers and stakeholders. The interdisciplinary nature of the program prepares me to bridge the gap between technological innovation and effective policy implementation.
What would you tell someone considering applying to IE University?
I'm deeply grateful for the opportunities IE University has given me, and for the institution’s values-driven approach to every decision. The combination of rigorous academic training, practical application, and a supportive international community makes IE University the ideal environment for anyone looking to make meaningful contributions in this space.
