Tech Reg Lab: A new global initiative to shape the future of technology
IE School of Science and Technology Virtual Asset Lab launches a network to shape the future of technology regulation.
IE School of Science and Technology has recently launched the Tech Reg Lab in collaboration with IE Science and Technology’s Virtual Asset Regulation Lab, UK Centre for Blockchain Technologies, Technology Regulation Lab at Victoria University led by Prof. Robert Walters, and NOVA SBE Data Science Knowledge Center, in partnership with Ripple UBRI with the financial assistance of Lauren Weymouth and the UBRI network.
The Tech Reg Lab was launched with several core objectives that will have a lasting impact on technology regulation worldwide. These include generating actionable research that directly informs regulatory decisions and policy developments, supporting technology entrepreneurs by equipping them with the knowledge and tools to navigate the complex regulatory landscape. It also aims to help policymakers design regulations that balance innovation with consumer protection and security, whilst also creating a positive regulatory environment that accelerates the adoption of transformative technologies and drives industry growth.
Co-led by IE School of Sci-Tech, Leid Zejnilovic from NOVA SBE, and Francesco Pierangeli from University of Birmingham, the Tech Reg Lab brings together a global team of experts, including Matthew Osborne (Ripple), Paolo Tasca (UCL / UK CBT) Nikhil Vadgama (UCL / UK CBT).
By creating a space for dialogue between academia, industry, and policymakers, the Tech Reg Lab is committed to addressing the regulatory challenges posed by rapid technological advancements and ensuring that we are not only keeping pace with emerging technologies but also actively shaping the regulatory frameworks that will govern them.
