IE alumni from the hospitality sector shared industry insights with students

IE Talent & Careers hosted Marriott as the hospitality sector giant introduced students to its Voyage Graduate Program at IE University, offering students an exclusive opportunity to engage with industry professionals and spark their passion for the world of hospitality.

More than 100 students registered for the event, which was led by David Muñoz Alcázar, a Marriott Hotels International’s University Relations & Talent Acquisition Programs Manager alongside the Marriott Talent Acquisition team. The team includes two IE alumni, Martina Laici, a graduate of the Master in Management and Carolina Duchêne who double majored in Master in Talent Development & Human Resources.

The event emphasised the strong partnership between IE University and the hospitality industry. The purpose was to alert students to the available positions in the Madrid edition of the Voyage Program and to provide firsthand experiences, expectations, and tips from experts to students interested in the hospitality sector.

“Something that I learned and that I really like about this dynamic environment of the hotel industry is that you switch your mentality,” said Martina Laici, the IE Master in Management alumni.

“You need to have this proactive mindset, which is something that you learn with time and it grows with time.”

Laicis' experience as a rooms division Voyager accentuates IE’s increasing number of hospitality related events as the industry continues to grow.

“The hospitality sector advertised at IE is growing more and more to appeal to student’s interests and that Marriott is opening its doors not only to hospitality students but also business students.”
