About me

Asif Gil is an Israeli International MBA candidate with a degree in Biotechnology and Food Engineering. After doing three years of military service and getting his undergraduate degree, Asif decided to apply to IE Business School to expand his tech knowledge and learn about the entrepreneurial world. As the current President of the IE Out & Allies Club, he is organizing, the LGBT+@Work conference. Ever the social person, Asif spends his free time meeting with friends, exercising, going to museums, and traveling around Spain to explore new places.

CAN YOU TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOURSELF?

I am from Tel Aviv, Israel. I did military service for three years, where I served as a reconnaissance commander. I studied Biotechnology and Food Engineering at Technion. I like to travel and go on day hikes. Nine years ago, I traveled around South America, from Argentina and Chile, through Bolivia to Peru. I also hiked in California’s Yosemite Park and Portugal’s Lousã. In my leisure time, I like to grab a beer with friends or to take a stroll in the park. I love Madrid. It is one of the most beautiful cities I have ever seen.

HOW AND WHY DID YOU BECOME PRESIDENT OF THIS CLUB? WHAT ARE YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES AS PRESIDENT?

I became the president because I wanted to contribute to the LGBT community. As a business leader of the future, I wanted to use my power to represent the folks who were not so privileged. I also wanted to learn about the different groups within our community and to obtain tools and skills for the creation of an environment in which they would feel a sense of belonging. My responsibility is to create strategic relationships with corporate partners and to raise funds for the LGBT+@Work flagship event.

HOW WILL YOU KEEP SUPPORTING THE CLUB ONCE YOU GRADUATE?

I will mentor the next president and connect him/her with the right people that will make the next year as successful as ours.

LGBT+@Work is an annual conference, run by the IE Out and Allies Club that prompts LGBT leadership in business by creating a diverse, inclusive and inspirational platform of engagement between IE talent and major companies.

HOW DID YOU GATHER SO MUCH MOMENTUM/SPONSORSHIPS/ATTENDEES?

It is all about relationships. There are so many people who want to contribute to the success of our mission. ou just need to reach out to people and create the right alliances.

WHAT IS YOUR NEXT STEP AFTER GRADUATING FROM IE? WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN THE FUTURE?

I would like to join a global company and work in a post-sales management position. I would like to utilize the diversity and inclusion skills I acquired at the club and implement them in order to create protocols and procedures for a safe work placement for all.
