ABOUT MASTER IN DESIGN FOR IMMERSIVE EXPERIENCE AND XR

The Master in Design for Immersive Experiences and XR explores the intersection of spatial design, storytelling, emerging technologies, and immersive interaction.

The program prepares future designers to create meaningful experiences across physical and digital environments through extended reality, interactive systems, narrative design, and future-oriented thinking.

At IE School of Architecture and Design, the program encourages experimentation, critical thinking, and innovation across disciplines. This challenge reflects its commitment to redefining everyday experiences through immersive design and technology.

PRIZES

1st prize

One (x1) high potential award of 40% off tuition for the Master in Design for Immersive Experiences and XR. 

2nd prize

Two (x2) high potential awards of 20% off tuition for the Master in Design for Immersive Experiences and XR.

Please note:

  • The prize will be applied toward tuition fees for the IE Master in Design for Immersive Experiences and XR , for the September 2026 intake.
  • Admission to the Master’s program is mandatory in order for the scholarship to be applied.
  • Finalists will be required to attend an interview with the IE Admissions Department.
  • All awards are subject to final approval by the IE Admissions Department.
  • IE reserves the right to withdraw or deny the scholarship if candidates do not meet the academic or professional requirements of the program.
  • Should any winning participant decline the award, the scholarship will be reassigned to the next highest-rated project as determined by the competition jury.
  • Participation in the competition implies full acceptance of these terms and conditions.
  • Under no circumstances may the scholarship be exchanged for cash, transferred to another individual, or applied to any program other than the one for which it was originally granted. Furthermore, the scholarship cannot be combined with other financial aid, unless expressly authorized by the institution

DOCUMENTS TO BE SUBMITTED

Submission guidelines:

  • The title showing the area for which the document is applying: (Hybrid, Narrative, or Future Design)
  • A written explanation of your interpretation in 1 slide max
  • As many as visual representation on the preferred format (diagrams, pictures, collages, sketch, Images or illustrations, Storyboards or mood boards Interactive or immersive media)
  • there's no precise expectation, but we want to understand the creative process related to the challenge in 4 slides max.
  • In a maximum of 5 slides, using a landscape format of 16:9 or 3:4, summarize your submission. Mixing graphics and text, tell us why this path could lead to more interesting solutions than others. (1 pure text, 4 other sources)
  • All texts must be in English.
  • The files must be named as follows: surname_name_improvementarealetter. pdf (eg. in the case of candidate John Smith, candidate for “Sustainability”, the file will be named: Smith_John_S.pdf

Each candidate must deliver:

You may approach the challenge through one (or a combination) of the following lenses

  • Hybrid Design
    Sensors, spatial interaction, responsive environments, physical + digital layers.
  • Narrative Design
    A story that unfolds during the ride—visual, sonic, emotional, or interactive.
  • Future Design
    A completely new vision of vertical movement and immersive mobility.
