TAILOR YOUR FASHION CAREER
Our community of students is diverse, and so are their future plans. Our Alternative Practices Elective module will help you define your own path – we don’t do one-size-fits-all education. In order to customize your pathway, you’ll have the chance to choose courses in areas such as Accessory Design, Costume Design, Textile Design, Virtual Fashion, and Fashion Logistics. This flexibility allows you to explore your specific passions and develop expertise in the areas that resonate with you most.

CREATIVITY FOR GOOD
Your creativity can change the world. It’s our job to help you do that. We help you understand and refine your creative abilities through a series of project-based fashion design studio courses: hands-on exercises that will stretch your imagination, and help you confront the complex array of material, economic, social, and cultural factors that surround and inform even the simplest garment.
SUSTAINABILITY AND SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
We believe good fashion design is, by definition, sustainable. A good design must not only be aesthetically pleasing but must also be developed with consideration of its impact on the environment and the community. The fashion industry has a responsibility to consider its impact on the environment and for the people involved in all stages of production. That’s why we place material and social sustainability at the center of our approach. You’ll experiment with sustainable materials and processes, analyze the impact of supply chains and labor conditions, and examine how good design can do good things for individuals and for the planet.
FASHION TECH AND CRAFT
Fashion technology is both traditional and cutting edge. We believe that the leaders of tomorrow’s fashion world must be able to navigate a range of crafts and technologies from digital fashion and AI to hand-stitching and draping. In each semester, you’ll participate in a garment construction and craft workshop that helps inform and execute your design work.
THE BUSINESS OF FASHION
Building on IE’s half-century of innovation in business education, this program takes an entrepreneurial approach to design. In our fashion business module, you’ll build a strong foundation for your career in the world of fashion, with coursework on fashion production, distribution, marketing, sales, e-commerce, and start-ups. You’ll also start building and refining a brand as you develop your final thesis collection. In order to make a difference, you need the business skills to help implement your vision, and we’re here to help.
