MASTER IN Architecture

Our Master in Architecture (MArch) combines the rigorous training required to achieve professional licensure in Spain and the European Union with an international, entrepreneurial, and sustainable approach. We help you gain professional licensure, and then redefine the profession-on your own terms.

The program consists of three elements: the Thesis Project module, led by world-renowned architect, educator, and entrepreneur Ben Van Berkel, of Amsterdam-based UNStudio; an intensive architectural design and building construction studio based on sustainable technologies and architectural strategies; and the Design Management Module, which builds on our legacy of excellence in entrepreneurial thinking and business training, as applied to the fields of architecture and design.

The Master in Architecture program, held in Madrid and Amsterdam, prepares graduates to become leaders in the architectural profession and related design fields. With our rigorous, innovative approach, small class sizes, and access to IE University´s international network of partners and alumni, you’ll graduate ready tolead the sector from day one.

This program is also recognized with the prestigious NAAB International Certification (ICert), placing IE School of Architecture and Design among a select group of leading architecture schools worldwide.

WHO IS THE MASTER IN ARCHITECTURE FOR?

This program is intended for students looking to complete their professional architectural licensure requirements in Spain, and who want an international, innovative approach to the profession.

  • IS FOR INDIVIDUALS WHO WANT...

To shape the future of architecture through a practice that is more sustainable, innovative, and socially responsible. This program brings together design excellence, technical rigor, and entrepreneurial thinking to prepare students for the realities of the profession.

Students learn to work across scales with precision, from the design of intimate spaces and interior environments to larger architectural systems and urban contexts. Their journey begins with a strong foundation in architectural design and building construction, then expands into more complex spatial, cultural, and professional challenges.

  • LOOKING FOR…

An immersive and internationally oriented education that combines architectural culture with advanced design tools, sustainable strategies, and real-world professional preparation. Students seek a program that balances core architectural knowledge with contemporary practice, global networks, interdisciplinary collaboration, and innovative learning methods.

The program explores architecture as a multidimensional discipline, connecting material, social, environmental, and digital dimensions across local and international contexts.

  • TO BECOME…

Architects ready to make a meaningful impact in the profession, equipped to pursue licensure in Spain and the EU and prepared to lead in diverse architectural and design fields. Graduates will be ready to contribute to residential, commercial, cultural, hospitality, and public projects, as well as to related areas such as design innovation, development, and entrepreneurial practice.

They will become professionals who place sustainability, human experience, and long-term responsibility at the core of their work, while also understanding the broader impact of architecture on cities, communities, and the built environment.

They will be prepared to collaborate with international design teams, develop concept proposals and 3D spatial strategies, create compelling visual presentations, and manage the process from idea to execution. They will also gain the confidence to work with budgets, coordinate with consultants and suppliers, and deliver projects with precision and purpose.
