Dean Ikhlaq Sidhu talks Tech Trends in Masterclass
The upcoming IE-Berkeley Catalyst Tech Leaders Program will expand on the subject.
Ikhlaq Sidhu, Dean of IE School of Science and Technology gave a masterclass about emerging trends in technology, highlighting the global Impact Xcelerator initiative and IE-Berkeley Catalyst Tech Leaders program (IBTC).
Sidhu, author of Innovation Engineering, discussed AI, evolution of cyberspace as a spatial web, environmental technologies, and bio-convergence trends, emphasizing their increasing interconnectedness.
The Sci-Tech School has identified these trends following their Impact Xcelerator launch in January, where a network of academics, tech ventures and industry leaders aim to break silos and advance impact in their respective fields.
“Since we’ve been doing all of that for the last year, we’ve been having the opportunity to observe technology trends that are happening,” Sidhu said.
When asked about what trends could impact humanity the most, Sidhu highlighted advancements in energy generation.
“I understand how people are very focused on large language models, but what happens on the horizon of energy will affect everything actually,” he said.
Through the Impact Xcelerator, IE University collaborates with the University of California Berkeley and organized a four-month IBTC program starting in November on upcoming tech trends.
The program is aimed at business and tech leaders who want to understand emerging technology trends, develop strategic plans, and connect with tech ventures to lead business innovation.
