ACADEMIC STANDARDS
At IE University, we believe academic excellence starts with integrity, demands intellectual rigor, and relies on clear, fair policies.
These principles shape how we learn, teach, and grow—ensuring every student is held to high standards and supported in reaching their full potential. We encourage you to read on to understand the expectations and frameworks that shape your time here.
IEU Student Code of Conduct
IE University students are expected to adhere to the principles and procedures defined in this Code and share responsibility for collaborating with other community members to encourage an environment coherent with the academic and community values laid down herein. These principles and regulations frame IE’s Ethical Standards, bridging students, faculty, and staff into one cohesive and vibrant community.

Citation and Plagiarism
In an instructional setting, plagiarism occurs when a writer deliberately uses someone else’s language, ideas, or other original (not common-knowledge) material without acknowledging its source. Students must refrain from plagiarism, defined as the dishonest and unethical practice of presenting someone else’s ideas or words as if they were one’s own. The only way to avoid plagiarism is to properly cite and credit all your sources.
You can also have a look at the following document on Plagiarism for a better understanding.

“The IE Community is dedicated to the promotion of ethics and integrity in the world of business. Professional ethics and integrity therefore form the very core of this Community. Fairness, honesty, and respect for others are not just virtues; they are what each member of the IE Community can rightly expect from their peers. As a community of students, professors, management staff, and alumni, we are defined by a core set of values and goals, [such as] to act fairly, honestly, and with respect for others; to create and maintain an environment for the free exchange of ideas; to celebrate diversity and global understanding; to respect academic freedom in the classroom and to uphold academic honesty and integrity.”
