As IT infrastructure manager, my work is related to SDGs 9 and 7.
Over the last decade and a half it has been my objective to significantly reduce energy consumption in the IT department. To that end, we have implemented several changes within the data center. For example, in addition to updating the on premise IT infrastructure, we have been able to migrate many functions to the cloud, reducing the consumption of resources by 75%. Adding up all the instituted changes, migration to the cloud represents a reduction in CO2 emissions of close to 90%. Approximately 15 years ago, the IE data center consumed more than 200 kWh and today it consumes less than 10 kWh.
Working in IT, I am able to do my part to reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions in support of SDGs 7, 9, and 12.
