Faces of Change: The story of Borja Santos

During many years I have been working towards the achievement of target 11.5 of the SDGs: “By 2030, significantly reduce the number of deaths and the number of people affected and substantially decrease the direct economic losses relative to global gross domestic product caused by disasters, including water-related disasters, with a focus on protecting the poor and people in vulnerable situations”.

I was working with the United Nations for two years in Ecuador and for five years in Ethiopia, supporting their governments and the local policies of their municipalities. Due to climate change, their exposure and vulnerability against natural hazards like droughts, floods, human diseases or conflict have increased. Strengthening their local capacities was very important. You can see bellow a video of the program that I developed in Ethiopia and an article that I wrote about this topic.
