Carmen Álvarez

With my volunteer work, I am supporting various SDGs, especially SDG 1, 4, 5, and 8. During these past 3 years, I have been collaborating with Kibera Creative Arts (KiCA), a community-based organization (CBO) located at the heart of the Kibera slum (Nairobi, Kenya). The organization’s main objective is to empower its community via artistic development including, providing space for performing arts, organizing arts and crafts workshops, offering inspirational mentorships sessions, and finally enabling audiovisual production and training (including music recording and filming). I continue to work to develop the organization’s capabilities through fundraising, partnership management, and identifying new opportunities whenever possible that will continue to allow KiCA to offer a platform that boosts Kibera’s limitless talent.
