Africa is the final region in the world to embark on the challenge of economic development, and it promises strong opportunities for growth in the coming years. The unique characteristics of many countries on the continent mean that development will be difficult. However, the experience and expertise of other countries around the world can help to remove these obstacles. This course will expose students to the ideas and proposals of some of today’s leading thinkers on development, encourage them to evaluate their proposals, and come up with their own concrete solutions for specific nations.
