He has held positions as an Emile Noël Fellow at the Jean Monnet Center at NYU School of Law, a visiting professor at FGV Law School in São Paulo, a postdoctoral fellow at the European University Institute (EUI), and a visiting researcher at Saint Louis University. Antonio holds a PhD in Business and Social Law from Bocconi University, where he lectures on digital platforms and automation in the workplace.

Artificial Intelligence, Platform Work and Labour (Hart Publishing 2022, with Valerio De Stefano), a widely cited book examining the impact of automated systems on labour governance. His scholarly work appears in leading peer-reviewed journals and edited volumes, and is referenced in policy documents, judicial decisions, and media coverage. His publications are also included in syllabi at universities in Europe and beyond.

Antonio regularly serves as a thematic expert for international institutions, such as the European Commission, the European Parliament, the International Labour Organization, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, the Eurofound and the Joint Research Centre, and national governments.
