Ikhlaq Sidhu Discusses How to Engineer Innovation in Lisbon

The dean of IE School of Science and Technology addressed C-Level leaders as the Innovation Club keynote.

Ikhlaq Sidhu, Dean of IE School of Science and Technology, spoke to dozens of C-Suite business leaders in Lisbon at the innovation consultancy beta-I’s main event, the Innovation Club keynote address.

“Good leaders let their teams shine,” Sidhu told the room full of executives of innovation-driven companies, while focusing on how leaders can encourage innovation in teams.

Good teams with great ideas often fail, said the author of Innovation Engineering: A Practical Guide to Creating Anything New. Drawing on his 17 years of leading innovation at Berkeley and now at one of QS’s ranked top 25 most Innovative universities in the world, Sidhu discussed how to synthesize technology, design, and entrepreneurial behaviors.  He covered the key aspects of creating new things, mindsets, and leadership.

Specifically, Sidhu presented ideas for how to balance the need to protect a brand’s history with inventing a new story and not killing innovation out of insecurity.
