What do you think distinguishes a strong candidate for your company?

Because we bet on the long-term, we look for intelligent and adaptable people rather than people with specific experience with a particular tool or technology.

How regularly do you hire Science and Tech students or alumni from IE?

The tech degrees are relatively new, so we haven't had the chance to hire yet, but we are eager to talk with recent graduates. IE's study plan provides both a practical approach to tech and a high-level vision of the state of the industry.

What would you say is the most significant trend in the tech job market right now?

Companies look for highly adaptable professionals to new tools and technologies. For example, incorporate AI Prompts and Plugins in the regular development workflow. If you can showcase your skills with this kind of new tooling, you will have much more odds of being hired, for example recording your screen when you are developing something while you narrate what you are doing step-by-step and why you are doing it that way.

Please give three tips on how students should best approach recruiters to be most successful.

  1. The most important advice. Please, do some kind of research about the company and the position you are applying for.
  2. You will compete with other candidates, so help the recruiters to "sell" your profile. Explain to them why you are the best option, not only for your skills or experience but because you will be serious and responsive during the whole process.
  3. Set the expectations as soon as possible. Ask about the different stages of the hiring process, how many candidates you are competing with, and how long it usually takes to complete.
