Ana María Nieves Meléndez
Ana María Nieves Meléndez is a talent management professional who is passionate about building organizational development strategies to drive business success. She currently works at NTT DATA in Madrid and has previously held positions in talent management, learning and development and customer relationship management.
In addition to the Master in Talent Development and Human Resources, Ana María Nieves holds a Bachelor in Business Administration from the University of Puerto Rico and a Master in Emotional Intelligence and Coaching from EAE Business School. She describes herself as creative, a lifelong learner, and a proactive team player with a “can-do” attitude.

HOW DID YOUR EXPERIENCE AT IE UNIVERSITY HELP YOU IN YOUR PROFESSIONAL CAREER?
IE University prepared me for every professional opportunity I have had since. It gave me confidence in my knowledge and skills, as well as international experience and a greater understanding of the world. It transformed my way of thinking, which has contributed to my subsequent success.
IN WHAT WAY HAS THE PROGRAM CHANGED YOUR LIFE PERSONALLY?
The people I met at IE University, the skills I learned, and my professional growth have all impacted my life on a personal level. Moving to Spain made me grow as a person more than I had anticipated, and now I cannot imagine my life without that experience. I think I am a better person for having studied at IE University.
WHAT IS NETWORKING LIKE ON THE PROGRAM?
My recommendation is to make the most of the campus groups: they provide a great opportunity to meet people from other programs and expand your network. Also, the professors are a great resource to help you connect with professionals in the field. And do not hesitate to connect with alumni when you have the chance.
HAVE YOU MOVED TO A DIFFERENT COUNTRY SINCE STUDYING THE PROGRAM?
Yes. I lived in Puerto Rico before attending IE University. After graduation, I returned to Puerto Rico, but now I am living in Spain again.

Growth.
WHAT WOULD YOU TELL OTHERS WHO ARE LOOKING TO PURSUE A CAREER IN HR? WHAT SKILLS ARE NECESSARY TO EXCEL IN YOUR FIELD?
Patience and generosity, both with yourself and with others. Pay attention to soft skills, embrace creativity, and never stop learning. Learn to unlearn.
WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR ANYONE CONSIDERING STUDYING AT IE UNIVERSITY?
I would advise them to seize the opportunity. It will not be perfect, but nothing is. You will not regret the opportunity to have such a unique experience.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MEMORY OF THE EXPERIENCE?
It is difficult to choose just one! Moving to Spain changed the course of my life. But the best memories are of the interactions with my classmates, such as the times we spent exploring Madrid, the group meetings and the time spent on campus with my friends. Graduation was the most bittersweet experience of my life, in the most amazing way.
