IE Business School Appoints Martin Boehm as Dean of Programs

IE Business School Appoints Martin Boehm as Dean of Programs
IE Business School Professor Martin Boehm has been named Dean of Programs, IE Business School Dean Santiago Iñiguez announced today.

A Professor in the School’s Marketing Department, Boehm specializes in Customer Relationship Management.  In addition to his teaching role, Boehm was responsible for the 2009 launch of the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) at IE University.  He then went on to lead the redesign and internationalization of the Masters in Management programs, one of the fastest growing categories in IE’s portfolio of programs today, of which he has been as Associate Dean since 2010.

Martin Boehm holds a PhD in Marketing from the University of Frankfurt, an MBA from the Australian School of Entrepreneurship and a BA in International Business from Reutlingen University. He has worked as a consultant for Bain & Company and for Accenture.

“A valued faculty member and a proven member of our management team, Martin’s added experience as a consultant and as professor in executive education provides him with a sound strategic vision of the business education sector,” said Dean Iñiguez. “An excellent team builder, Martin has fostered relevant international initiatives where IE plays a leading role.”

In his new responsibilities as Dean of Programs, Martin will lead the launch of the new Global MBA+ and Executive MBA+, he will foster the development of blended programs in international markets along with new academic partners, as well as the revamp of the other programs of IE’s portfolio. He will step into his new role on September 1, 2012.

Boehm succeeds Professor of Strategy and Economic Environment David Bach, who will be joining his alma mater, the Yale School of Management.  Building on his successful teaching and administrative career at IE Business School, Bach joins Yale SOM as Senior Associate Dean for Executive MBA and Global Programs.

Bach has held significant leadership roles at IE Business School including: Academic Director of the International MBA Program, Associate Dean for MBA Programs, and, most recently, Dean of Programs.  He also served as Academic Director of the IE Brown Executive MBA, a unique program that fuses Brown University’s strength in liberal arts with IE’s expertise in management education.

“We are grateful for David’s dedication to IE over the years.  He has brought all his energies, enthusiasm, and intelligence to the internationalization of our programs and renovation of IE’s portfolio of masters degrees.  His global experience and desire to help business leaders become global citizens will be a clear value add to Yale SOM,” said Iñiguez.

Bach will remain linked to IE, where he will continue to teach in the IE Brown Executive MBA and other programs as an adjunct professor and will also serve as an external advisor to support those strategic initiatives in which he has been involved.  Moreover, in his new position at Yale, David will play a key leadership role in the Global Network for Advanced Management, an initiative spearheaded by Yale that IE recently joined as a founding member.  His appointment will therefore not only strengthen relations between Yale and IE, but also open interesting opportunities with other network schools in areas including student exchanges, executive education, and blended learning

“Everything I know about management education I've learned at IE – from my extraordinary team, my faculty colleagues, the school's top leadership, and of course from our students from more than 80 countries,” resumed Bach. “It's been a daily thrill to work for a school that sets the pace in our sector, that never rests, and that always wants to go beyond.  As a result, IE has become one of the most global business schools in the world.  I take this spirit with me to my new role at Yale and I look forward to building bridges between these two great institutions.  The Global Network for Advanced Management will play a key role in this respect since its members, including Yale and IE, have come together specifically to globalize and in the process re-invent management education.”
