Amender, winning startup of the Global LegalTech Competition 2025 at South Summit Madrid
The final of the seventh edition brought together promising startups from the international LegalTech ecosystem in Madrid.
Scottish startup Amender has been crowned the winner of the seventh edition of the Global LegalTech Competition, whose final was held on June 5 as part of South Summit Madrid 2025, one of the most important innovation and entrepreneurship events in Southern Europe.
Organized by IE Law School, LexisNexis, and the Law Schools Global League, this international competition aims to foster emerging talent and innovation in the LegalTech sector. This year, the competition focused on identifying and supporting startups from Edinburgh (United Kingdom), Mexico City (Mexico), and Nairobi (Kenya), promoting the development of technological solutions with global impact in the legal industry.
Following a series of qualifying events held in these three cities, the startups selected to compete in the grand final in Madrid were Amender, represented by Walter Myer (Edinburgh), and Daat Analytics, represented by Iñaki Fernández Fiscal (Mexico City). They all presented their projects before a jury composed of investors, lawyers from renowned international law firms, and legal industry experts.
The ceremony began with a welcome speech by Soledad Atienza, Dean of IE Law School, who emphasized the importance of initiatives like this in energizing the global legal ecosystem. In the end, the jury awarded first place to Amender for its innovative technology, which combines large language models (LLMs) and advanced algorithms to extract and organize feedback from emails and tags, enhancing the efficiency of legal information management.
As part of the prize, LexisNexis will lead a six-month mentorship program, designed to accelerate Amender’s growth and help scale its market impact.
With this initiative, IE Law School and its partners reaffirm their commitment to transforming the legal sector, supporting a new generation of startups that are redefining the delivery of legal services through technology.
