Developed by IE Law School, this innovative initiative brings together students from seven prestigious law schools to tackle a multimedia case that merges technology and comparative law.

The fifth edition of the Comparative Law in Action Competition kicks offVictoria Jaffer, Associate Director at IE Law School, during the live stream.

Comparative Law in Action aims to drive positive changes through education. The competition unites students from the University of Edinburgh, Bucerius Law School, Católica Global School of Law, Maastricht University, Bocconi University, Tilburg University, and IE Law School, challenging them to work on a multimedia legal case that combines the power of technology with comparative law.

Over the course of several weeks, participants will study and analyze, as part of a team, how legislation and policies can adapt to the new dynamics brought about by technology. Applying a comparative approach like that used by the most advanced legal teams, the students will seek innovative and comprehensive solutions to a complex legal problem.

A pioneering practical learning experience

The fifth edition of the Comparative Law in Action Competition kicks offYuliya Kaspiarovich, Assistant Professor at IE Law School, during the live stream.

Comparative Law in Action is the first university competition that brings together comparative law, technology and policy. In this fifth edition, officially launched on January 15 during a virtual event broadcast from the IE Tower, Eugenia Castrillón, Vice Dean of Programs at IE Law School, welcomed all participants. During the live stream, the multimedia legal case titled “The Talents of Europe: Comparative Law in the Era of AI Regulation” was unveiled.

The case, designed by Yuliya Kaspiarovich, professor at IE Law School and an expert in EU and International Law, challenges participants to engage with a fictional scenario grounded in real legal sources. It addresses issues such as intricate legal frameworks governing IP rights, artificial intelligence regulation, political controversies, and international sanctions. This approach offers a unique, hands-on, and dynamic learning experience.

A final event at IE Tower

The competition will culminate on the weekend of April 25, when the teams will gather at the IE Tower to present their findings to a panel of expert judges, who will select the finalists.
