IE Law School, Carrefour and Harvey launch a pioneering AI program for corporate legal teams
The initiative aims to drive legal department transformation and equip legal professionals to face future challenges.
IE Law School, Carrefour and Harvey have joined forces to launch NEXT.IA: Building the Future Legal Function—a groundbreaking program designed to support the transformation of legal departments and prepare legal professionals for the evolving demands of the profession.
This strategic alliance reinforces IE Law School’s commitment to training global legal leaders who can integrate strategy, innovation, and technology into their work. Developed in collaboration with Carrefour, the program offers a hands-on, forward-looking learning experience that combines strategic thinking, leadership, legal project management, and the application of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence.
For the first time, Harvey—one of the most advanced generative AI platforms for the legal sector—and IE Law School are co-designing a program specifically for Carrefour’s legal team. This pioneering collaboration will give participants direct exposure to how AI can enhance efficiency, elevate the quality of legal advice, and strengthen the strategic impact of in-house legal departments.
The launch of NEXT.IA reflects the shared commitment of IE Law School and Carrefour to excellence, innovation, and sustainability in corporate legal practice. Through experiential learning, real-world case studies, and applied learning labs, the program fosters interdisciplinary collaboration and helps develop the critical skills needed to lead change in today’s complex business environment.
Juan Riego, General Counsel at Carrefour, remarked: "With this program, Carrefour reaffirms its commitment to innovation and the continuous development of its legal team—strengthening its role as a strategic partner in the digital era."
Through this initiative, IE Law School, Carrefour and Harvey are shaping a new model of collaboration between business, academia and technology—focused on anticipating the future of legal work and redefining how legal teams create value.
Soledad Atienza, Dean of IE Law School, added: "At IE Law School, we believe the future of legal practice lies at the intersection of law, business and technology. This alliance with Carrefour and Harvey reflects our mission to prepare a new generation of lawyers to lead with purpose, vision and impact."
