IE Law School officially launched the 2026 edition of its Law Mentoring Program with a kick-off event held on Thursday, January 29 at IE Tower, setting the stage for a new cycle of personalized, one-to-one mentorship between students and leading legal professionals. The event marked the first in-person meeting between mentors and mentees, laying the foundations for effective mentoring relationships.

This year’s edition brings together 104 participants, structured around a 1:1 mentor–mentee ratio to ensure individualized guidance and high-impact mentoring. The cohort is evenly divided between 52 mentors and 52 mentees, reinforcing the program’s commitment to quality, proximity, and tailored support.

A diverse and high-impact Mentor Network

Mentors represent more than 25 companies and institutions from across the legal and financial sectors. The most represented organizations include Banco Santander, Pérez-Llorca, ECIJA, and Hogan Lovells, alongside top-tier law firms, multinational corporations, and financial institutions.

IE alumni make up 56% of the mentor group, complemented by external senior professionals who bring additional industry insight. While most mentors are based in Madrid, the inclusion of international professionals adds a valuable global perspective.

A Career-Focused Student Cohort

Mentees are evenly split between Master’s and Undergraduate students, reflecting IE Law School’s integrated academic ecosystem. Their main areas of interest include Corporate & Commercial Law, Banking & Financial Law, International Arbitration & Litigation, and Compliance & Criminal Law, closely aligned with current market demands.

Coaching sessions to maximize the impact of the program

As part of the program, coaching sessions will be offered to both students and mentors, with the aim of helping them make the most of the mentoring experience.

The sessions will be led by Wim Zwaenepoel, professional coach, and will provide practical tools to enhance the mentor–mentee relationship, align expectations, and maximize learning and development throughout the program.
