About me

I’m from Mexico City and I have a background in architecture. Before coming to IE University, I worked in design, construction and project management so I had a lot of varied experience. I chose to study the Global Master in Real Estate Development because I think real estate development can truly change our built environment, and create a real impact in our societies and cities. I’m looking forward to meeting people from all around the world and developing my own global perspective on real estate development.

"Through real estate development, we can change our built environment and create a real change in our society and our cities."

Arturo Najera

Having already gained different industry experiences as well as a Bachelor degree in architecture, Arturo decided to venture into a new area of expertise with the Global Master in Real Estate Development.

Before coming to IE University to study the program, Arturo had been employed on a range of interior design and built environment projects. During this time, he worked for various design firms on high-end residential projects, before beginning to explore his current field of interest by pursuing work at real estate development companies.

Since his master’s studies began, Arturo has participated in the face-to-face period in Madrid, which he found to be a particularly beneficial experience to lay the groundwork for the program. This residential period provided him and his cohort with the opportunity to get to know like-minded individuals and meet their professors. Given that one of his main motivations for coming to IE University was joining an extensive network of professionals in the real estate development sector, Arturo is glad that there have already been chances to make the most of it.

Not knowing what exactly to expect before the program, Arturo found the period made him feel more at ease among his new peers. He believes this will allow him to fully immerse himself in his courses further down the line. In the initial face-to-face period alone, Arturo has been continuously exposed to new perspectives and cultures from all over the world—a result of the global nature of his program and international cohort. Noting that such a diverse cohort can also present challenges for mutual understanding, Arturo feels that he has truly stepped into the shoes of his peers to innovate his own ideas and diversify his thinking.

In the months to come, Arturo hopes to solidify a wealth of real estate knowledge and make the most of the opportunities that will come his way, with a view to advancing his career in the real estate development industry. Whether his professional passions take him back to his homeland of Mexico or to somewhere new, Arturo is gearing up for an international career and lasting success through the Global Master in Real Estate Development.
