About me

I have a passion for international collaboration and global problem-solving, and before joining IE University, I completed a bachelor’s degree in international relations. In particular, I’m incredibly interested in the ways technology shapes diplomacy, security and economic development, a curiosity that grew naturally from my studies and experiences around the world. So far, I’ve lived in Guatemala, Madrid, Rabat and Seville, which have all shaped me into the person I am today.

Q&A with Mohamed Louajri

What professional or academic experiences led you to develop an interest in technology and global affairs?

My international relations studies enabled me to participate in projects that analyzed how digital transformation affects diplomacy and economic development. Through this, I realized that technology is redefining how nations interact, compete and collaborate. This realization inspired me to pursue the Master in Technology & Global Affairs to explore how we can design ethical and inclusive global tech policies.

What aspects of the program have you found most valuable so far—whether courses, projects, or experiences—and why?

The most valuable aspect has been the program’s interdisciplinary approach. The combination of technology-focused courses with geopolitical analysis has helped me understand global challenges from both technical and strategic perspectives. I’ve particularly appreciated the variety in class, which ensures a broader range of perspectives and ideas that make arguments and discussions richer.

How would you describe the community and learning environment at IE University?

The people I’ve met and the environment in the facilities are some of its greatest strengths. It’s incredibly international, dynamic and open-minded. You’re constantly exposed to new perspectives and encouraged to think critically, while professors and peers alike are supportive and curious, fostering a space that’s both intellectually stimulating and personally enriching.

How has the program influenced your perspective on the intersection between technology and global issues?

The Master in Technology & Global Affairs has helped me see that technology isn’t just a tool, but a driving force shaping global power dynamics, security and inequality. It has expanded my understanding of how governance, ethics and innovation must align to ensure that technology is used to advance our society. I’ve learned to approach global challenges with a balance of technical awareness and diplomatic thinking.

How do you see yourself applying what you’ve learned in the program to your professional future?

I aim to work in the field of international policy and technology governance, ideally within global institutions or private organizations that connect tech and its impact on societies and the world. The program is giving me the analytical and strategic skills to enhance discussions on digital regulation, data governance and the ethical use of emerging technologies worldwide.
