Eisenhower Fellowships partners with the School of Global & Public Affairs at IE University and the Blavatnik School of Government at the University of Oxford to train global leaders

The Eisenhower Global Scholars Program will send two outstanding American university graduates to the School of Global & Public Affairs at IE University in Madrid for a full year intensive study and hands-on work experience.

This initiative is framed within a completely new Eisenhower Fellowships (EF) program that brings a different dimension to its traditional exchange programs that sends ascendant American leaders overseas. EF will offer four recent American college graduates a unique one-year postgraduate opportunity for academic study abroad leading to a Master degree at two European universities: IE School of Global and Public Affairs in Spain for students focused on the global economy, innovation and entrepreneurship and the University of Oxford's Blavatnik School of Government in the United Kingdom for students focused on public service and effective governance.

Beginning in fall, 2020, the two Scholars at IE School of Global and Public Affairs will study the Master in International Relations degree (MIR). This is the first time that EF has chosen a university located in Spain as a partner.

“We are living through a systemic shift in the global order. The international architecture is being questioned before our eyes. This challenge requires the training of new generation of global scholars and leaders capable of tackling complex problems such as climate change, governing the technological revolution or managing security in the Digital Era”, he added.

The Master in International Relations (MIR) at the IE School of Global & Public Affairs, which has become a top reference in the sector, trains talented students from highly diverse environments to assume leading positions in a world where public, private and non-profit sectors converge and global partnerships are created. The School has recently signed an agreement with the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) to renovate the MIR curriculum and connect it even more to the most updated trends and discussions in the global forums. The program also benefits from a partnership with the China Scholarship Council (CSC) to attract top performing students from that country and enhance the diversity of thought in the classroom.

EF Chapter Chairman for Spain, Javier Cremades, underlined the importance of rooting the network of Fellowships in Spain and celebrated the agreement because, as he remarked, both of IE and the Eisenhower Fellowships share key values such as fostering dialogue as well as understanding international collaboration to achieve a more prosperous and peaceful world. Cremades also stressed that fellows studying at IE School of Global and Public Affairs will be able to further enhance their professional and leadership skills.

Eisenhower Global Scholars will receive an all-expenses-paid year of intense academic study and cultural immersion at IE School of Global & Public Affairs, enriched by structured engagement with the influential leaders of Eisenhower Fellowships’ global network of Fellows.

During this year, or after the school year is completed, they will meet with Eisenhower Fellows based in Europe and will experience a lifelong connection to a network of like-minded leaders.

Candidates should be dynamic recent college graduates with excellent academic backgrounds, including a strong academic undergraduate record, who have demonstrated leadership potential and a strong commitment to public service and to making a difference in the world.
