Sofia Aguilar Corredor
I’m Sofía! Born and raised in Madrid, Spain. I hold a Bachelors’ in Psychology and I’m a proud Alumni of IE Business School’s Master in Talent Development & Human Resources, 2022-23. Before the masters I gained some experience in the People arena, having done two internships in Madrid, first in Training, Development and Talent Acquisition at a Spanish industrial group focused on inclusive employment, and then in Recruiting at a headhunting boutique; and another one in Washington, DC, where I had the opportunity to conduct a research on the impact of Imposter Syndrome on the latinx community at a non-profit organization associated with the US Congress. Since 2023 I have been working as a Talent & Organizational Transformation Consultant in Madrid.

Q&A with Sofia Aguilar Corredor
How did your previous experiences influence your decision to pursue the Master in Talent Development & Human Resources?
From the moment I started my major I knew I wanted to focus my career on organizations. My previous experiences helped me understand different fields of HR, reinforce my passion for people, and witness the many areas of improvement companies still had to provide positive employee experiences and reach their maximum potential. Studying this master was the most logical step in my career.
Why did you choose to study the Master in Talent Development & Human Resources at IE Business School?
IE’s value proposition goes beyond the classes’ syllabus. In the classroom, it’s the privilege of receiving lectures from well-established professionals, working hands-on on practical business cases based on real-life scenarios, and sharing spaces with a diverse group of people in terms of age, culture, nationality, backgrounds… Learning day to day from both your professors and your peers.
Outside the classroom, it’s the multicultural environment, the networking opportunities, the clubs, career assistants, events, campus life, and yes… also the parties! I knew if I attended IE I wasn’t just going to get a masters, but a wholesome experience no other institution could give me.
Beyond the classroom, how has the IE network (professors, peers, alumni) contributed to your professional development?
During the masters I booked sessions with my career assistant to better understand my opportunities and identify the roles I really wanted to apply to, which really helped me build my profile, prepare for interviews, and draft my CV. Additionally, I met a Talent Development & Human Resources alumni at a student panel who ended up referring me to the job I have now! And I try to connect with all master students each year to offer them internships at my department…
How are you applying what you’ve learned in the master at your current organization?
The masters helped me develop a clear understanding of different fields included in the area of Human Resources, Talent, and Organization, and allowed me to gain confidence in the execution of projects with a clear objective and a people-related challenge to solve. Throughout the program you’ll get the opportunity to work under a “safe testing bubble”, where you can get to know different types of projects and start to feel more comfortable in their end-to-end execution (from team organization, methodology conceptualization, or the delivery of actionable proposals). As a consultant, it helped me build a strong foundation to approach challenges with confidence.
What has been your favorite memory of your experience in the master?
I was selected to attend IE’s Global Immersion Week in London where, during a week, we had the opportunity to meet established HR professionals in the London area from different companies (LinkedIn, Snapchat, Amazon Web Services, Netflix, Google, Korn Ferry, Financial Times…). It was key for me to understand how I could apply what I was learning in the masters to my future role. I also met peers from different programs who ended up being friends. I’m thankful I didn’t miss it!
