LinkedIn Live: Gender Balance in Executive Positions
Monika Hamori discusses women’s career advancement.
Monika Hamori, Professor of Human Resource Management at IE Business School, spoke at the LinkedIn Live: “Gender Balance in Executive Positions” event hosted by the IE Women in Business Club. She shared her insights from extensive research on career advancements for women in the current corporate climate. The event was proposed by the IE Women Initiative, in close collaboration with the IE Center for Diversity in Global Management, IE Research and IE Knowledge.
Drawing on her work published in Harvard Business Review, The Wall Street Journal, The Financial Times and other publications, Hamori discussed subjects like: quantitative statistics of women’s leadership, the female premium, institutional pressures, symbolic action, and barriers within the supply and demand chain for employment.
“Women have less access to support networks, social network sponsors, and they have a lot of inconveniences from their status. They have to fight harder to rise up to these top corporate positions.”
Monika Hamori
She answered attendees questions about the quotas that apply to top tier positions, what role ethnicity plays in her findings, and common cognitive biases that are held towards women during the hiring process.
