About me

I’m Samiksha Menon, and I’m originally from India, although I spent most of my childhood in the United Arab Emirates. I’m a globally minded student with an academic background in various areas of law, including criminal, commercial and media law. I’m particularly passionate about law’s intersection with business and technology. Currently, I’m deepening my understanding of this intersection by studying the LL.M. in International Legal Studies at IE University.

Understanding the intersection of business, technology and law through international legal studies

After studying an undergraduate law degree that gave her a foundation in different types of law, Samiksha Menon realized that her main interest in the profession centered on law’s intersection with business and technology. Her ambition to make her mark contributing to decision-making in international corporate settings—particularly in complex regulatory ecosystems—led her to the LL.M. in International Legal Studies at IE University.

Samiksha was drawn to the program by its strong global focus, interdisciplinary approach and emphasis on practical learning. The opportunity to connect with a diverse faculty and student body adds to the dynamism of the program and provides a broader perspective to Samiksha’s understanding of global legal systems. At IE Law School, Samiksha is developing the skills and professional connections necessary for a career in international law.

Samiksha says that the program has been rigorous but rewarding from day one. She cites the Immersion Week in particular as providing an enriching experience and dynamic introduction to the program. Engaging with professionals in the real world deepened her understanding of how international law operates in practice, while also providing insights into possible career paths. Samiksha names her visit to the WTO in Geneva as the highlight of the week. There, she was able to understand how legal frameworks influence trade negotiations and dispute resolution on a global scale.

Aside from the outstanding academic experience, Samiksha has been leveraging the connections she’s building with our hugely diverse student body. The discussions she has with classmates inside and outside the classroom challenge her perspectives and add to her understanding of international legal frameworks. In fact, she says she believes the incredible opportunities for networking that IE Law School offers will play a key role in shaping her future career.

As someone with a global upbringing pursuing an international legal career, Samiksha recognizes the challenges and issues that can arise in balancing competing interests. Indeed she may have to tread some fine lines in negotiations, given her specific ambitions to become an in-house lawyer specializing in IP or international trade law.

So the skills, connections and perspectives she’s gaining on the program should help her to tackle these challenges head-on. Certainly she feels she’s been pushed to think critically and be more adaptable, which should stand her in good stead professionally.

As Samiksha works towards her career goals she’s taking maximum advantage of everything IE Law School has to offer. She’s focused on engaging with professors, peers and industry professionals in order to challenge her own points of view and deepen her understanding of international law. Her advice to anyone thinking about studying this program is to fully embrace the global and practical aspects of the program as stepping stones towards your own future career goals.

We’ll keep a keen eye on her professional path!
