Chairs and Center of Excellence

Our Chairs are supported by prestigious companies and institutions

A space where groundbreaking faculty research happens, attracting a wide range of experts to join the conversation on emerging and traditional areas of law.

Through our Chairs and Center of Excellence, IE Law School encourages research applied to the specific needs of the legal world. Additionally, IE has other centers financed and supported by companies with different sectors of activity that complement and enrich IE’s academic knowledge.

CHAIRS AND CENTER OF EXCELLENCE

One of our central missions as a prestigious, world-renowned educational institution is to create an environment that supports knowledge and innovative research initiatives, while attracting leading experts and academics. In recognition of our innovative approach to education, we received the Jean Monnet Chair from the European Commission (EC). With this fellowship, IE University was selected to develop the European module: “Towards a Common Private Law of Europe.” Click on the links below to learn more about our other fellowships.

IE Law School and law firm Pérez-Llorca have been dedicated to commercial law research and knowledge-sharing with the wider legal community.

The renewal of the Pérez-Llorca/IE Commercial Law Chair reinvigorates international research on commercial law

The renewal of the Pérez-Llorca/IE Commercial Law Chair reinforces the institutions’ combined commitment to legal research on commercial law issues that impact international markets. For the last ten years, this initiative—which was co-created by IE Law School and law firm Pérez-Llorca—has been dedicated to commercial law research and knowledge-sharing with the wider legal community.

Over the years, the Chair has become a reference point in Spain and a forum for reflecting upon today’s most pressing legal developments. The initiative has held seminars in Madrid, Barcelona, New York and Miami with the participation of academics, judges and lawyers who have reflected upon and deepened their understanding of contemporary legal topics. Some of the topics that the Chair has dove into include corporate governance from a European and US perspective; the interaction between arbitration and jurisdiction; and acquisition strategies in Europe and the US.

Moving forward, the Chair will continue to take a comparative and international approach to commercial law, always considering different legal systems and countries.  As a center for debate and reflection on regulatory changes and trends in commercial law, the Pérez-Llorca/IE Commercial Law Chair is dedicated to internationalization.
