IE Law School forges partnership with the UIA

IE Law School is proud to announce a partnership with the Union Internationale des Avocats (UIA). Established in 1927 and with members in 110 countries, the UIA is a global, multicultural organization for the legal profession that facilitates professional development and fuels learning and networking. At present, through its collective members (including bars, federations and associations) and individual members, the Union Internationale des Avocats brings together two million lawyers across the globe.

At the UIA’s 65th congress in Madrid, UIA President Jorge Martí and Dean of IE Law School, Soledad Atienza signed a long-term cooperation agreement to promote global legal education. Both institutions will collaborate in the development of joint projects and the dissemination of knowledge through courses and studies on matters of common interest.

As Martí explains, “For the International Union of Lawyers, the collaboration agreement with IE University is the best example of how academic and professional institutions should build bridges so that young people, who are our future, can benefit to the maximum by working together with legal professionals from all over the world.”

Through this agreement, and with the aim of becoming an international hub for legal debate and forward thinking, the faculty at IE Law School will participate in UIA commissions. We will also collaborate in the organization and hosting of several legal education activities, such as this summer’s course on Business and Human Rights for Legal Practitioners, which will take place in the IE Tower from July 6–9, 2022.

With more than 40 years’ experience in the sector, IE Law School is currently leading the conversation on global legal education, and helping other educational institutions understand how globalization and technology are impacting the field. This agreement with the Union Internationale des Avocats only consolidates IE Law School's position as an internationally recognized leader in legal education.
