LSGL is composed of 32 law schools that share a common interest in international legal education.
From February 17 to 19, IE Law School marked its presence at the latest meeting of the Law Schools Global League (LSGL), held at Edinburgh Law School (United Kingdom). The event brought together 32 prominent law schools from around the world, united by a shared commitment to international legal education.
A PLATFORM FOR GLOBAL DIALOGUE
Under the unifying theme “Global Law, Community, and Solidarity,” the conference provided a dynamic forum for academic exchange and collaboration. On February 18, the LSGL Academic Conference featured a series of panels addressing pressing global legal issues, centering on the ideas of community and solidarity. The discussions underscored the critical need for cross-border cooperation in the field of legal education.
The following day, the Deans’ Meeting focused on exploring both the challenges and opportunities within global legal education. Attendees delved into LSGL’s ongoing initiatives, reflecting on innovative strategies to enhance international collaboration. The meeting also welcomed new members to the league, with the University of Toronto Faculty of Law (Canada) and Universidad Torcuato Di Tella (Argentina) joining the esteemed group for the first time.
INNOVATIONS & LEGALTECH
In a highlight of the gathering, the Global LegalTech Competition showcased the first 2025 regional edition. This pioneering event provided a platform for startups within the legal tech industry to pitch groundbreaking innovations. The next events of the competition are slated to take place at Strathmore University (Kenya) and ITAM University (Mexico).
LEADERSHIP & VISION
Soledad Atienza, Dean of IE Law School and Co-Chair of LSGL, played a pivotal role during the conference. In her remarks, she noted,
“The activity and impact of the League is possible due to the commitment of all its members who constantly work together to promote global legal education and who share a spirit of cooperation.”
