IE Law School creates a series of virtual career initiatives to set students on the path to a successful career

Education today is liquid, and so are our students’ career paths, as they enter and experience a limitless professional world with virtual internships and other blended professional experiences that prepare them for a successful future career. Learn how our students are riding this new wave.

IE University remains at the forefront of liquid learning. Our Blended educational experience seamlessly integrates face-to-face and online teaching, and provides students a highly interactive, efficient, collaborative and fulfilling learning journey that doesn’t end at graduation. In fact, that’s just where it begins. Securing the start of an enriching career path for our students, despite the complex times we are facing, remains our top priority.

With that purpose in mind, our Talent & Careers department has created a series of virtual career initiatives to set our students on the path to a successful career. From virtual internships, developing practice-ready skills with mentors, CV development and networking, to getting in touch with employers and top law firms and companies around the world, we are committed to equipping our students with the skills and tools they need to make a lasting impact in the world.

Virtual internships with top firms and companies

IE University is the first university in Spain to implement virtual internships through the InsideSherpa platform, an open-access platform designed to unlock exciting careers for students by connecting them with virtual work experience programs. This allows law students to complete virtual internships and experiences with top law firms and companies worldwide. These programs contain a series of resources and tasks designed to simulate the real-world experience of starting a career.

With this platform, students gain a better understanding of the diverse and exciting career pathways available to them. It also helps them build the skills and confidence that will set them up for success as they move from the world of study to the world of work.

This platform helps students build their network and connect to the firms themselves. It’s a truly rewarding experience.

Set yourself apart

In the virtual work experience programs, top companies teach students the skills they look for when hiring by mimicking typical entry-level work, with a set of tasks that an employee would expect to complete on a given workday.

Baker McKenzie, Latham & Watkins, Pinsent Masons, Grant Thornton, Deloitte, and KPMG are some of the firms offering virtual internships though the platform.

“We’re very confident we can provide students a meaningful experience. Besides InsideSherpa, the careers department has reached an agreement with Symba for our students to be able to complete virtual internships and work experiences,” says Carolina Callejón, Senior Associate Director, Talent & Careers at IE Law School.

Other virtual initiatives

Under the circumstances we are currently facing, the IE Talent & Careers team was able to quickly adapt and create a platform to continue providing services to both companies and students with the main goal of ensuring students have effective talent identification and recruitment processes.

These are other initiatives that are being developed by the Talent & Careers department:

  • Extensive availability of career guidance through one-on-one online sessions, new resources, online workshops and training for virtual interviews and assessment centers.
  • Invitations to join the IE Virtual Talent Forum, one of the largest recruiting events, which will attract over 120 companies and 1,800 students. During this week-long virtual event, employers take the opportunity to connect with students on a one-on-one basis, give company presentations, and network with top talent at IE. Students will be able to explore their career options across industries with the participation of top companies.
  • Mentoring and shadowing programs are being developed virtually.
  • LinkedIn sessions for all master’s students in order to help them improve their profiles, increase their visibility and position themselves—the use of this online platform is now more important than ever.
