Presentation of the ADENO app in the context of the 2024 European elections
YOUTH PARTICIPATION
On Monday, April 15th, the IE Center for European Studies organized the presentation of the ADENO app at IE Tower. The app aims to encourage young people to vote in the upcoming European elections to the European Parliament to be held between June 6 and 9, 2024.
The European Parliament passes laws that affect everyone, since most important national issues also have a European dimension. EU legislation addresses most of people's priorities: the environment, security, migration, social policies, consumer rights, the economy, the rule of law, etc.
Despite this, there is a deep political disinterest and limited knowledge of the European Union among young people. In the 2019 European elections, 58% of young people aged 18 to 25 did not vote and 69% of young people admit to having limited knowledge of the EU.
AN APP CREATED BY YOUNG PEOPLE FOR YOUNG PEOPLE
François Mari, BBA student at IE University, is the creator of the ADENO app. In 2022 François created the ELYZE application for the French presidential elections. ELYZE was downloaded more than 3 million times, it was described by the media as the "first political Tinder", as it helped users find the ideal candidate. The ELYZE experience laid the foundations for the creation of ADENO.
At the presentation of the application, Lya Leocadie, a Dual Degree in Business Administration and Laws student at IE University, spoke first, giving a presentation on the role of the European Parliament and the impact that these elections have on each state member.
Secondly, François Mari, its creator, intervened. Under the motto "How to make the European vote a priority for you", François presented ADENO: a free, independent, and attractive application to get young people to vote in the 2024 European Parliament elections and which definitively stimulates the debate around to key European issues. The application is translated into 24 languages and will be available in all 27 EU countries.
After both interventions, an interesting debate was opened among the attendees moderated by Marie-José Garot, Director of the IE Center for European Studies.
