A day in the life of...
We spoke with Vlada Rau to find out what her day-to-day is like in the Master in Business Analytics & Big Data. “Every day is different, but we usually have early morning classes—about 8:30. My absolute favorite class is machine learning, because it’s really hands-on and practical. We also go on company visits—in November we visited Sanitas insurance company and an expert gave us a keynote speech.”
“At this time I work on projects for Big Data club. We organize Datathons where participants are provided a data set and they have to analyze it. For the upcoming event, the company is a dating app, and the data will determine their compatibility.”
“My afternoons are full of meetings, projects, and lunches with my team, which is very cultural diverse. It’s really good to have this experience because it prepares you to work with people from different backgrounds once you enter the job market.”
“If I don’t have to study—which I do a lot, because this program is very demanding—I use this time to talk to my family and boyfriend who are in Russia. I also sometimes go out with friends from my program and other HST programs, for example at a beer brewery.”

What our alumni have to say
While the most practical and useful learning I gained were the coding capabilities, I also developed the skills, languages, and mindset needed to be successful at a data-driven company.

Across the business world, a data-driven revolution is emerging. While this may seem obvious, it is only recently that companies have begun to invest deeply in understanding how to capture value through Big Data and analytics. What companies need are dynamic and specialized professionals from different backgrounds such as business, engineering, technology, economics, mathematics, or applied sciences who are able to identify, collect, analyze, interpret and use data to drive value and innovation.
The combination of this program with a Master’s in Management (if you have 0-2 years of experience) or an International MBA (if you have 3 or more years of experience) will position you on the threshold of two exciting worlds; acquiring a broader skillset and a competitive differentiation with a sharp focus.
