Build your career around the issues you care about

Finding meaning in your career is both satisfying and fulfilling. It offers you something that no job title, salary, or responsibility alone can do. But finding this purpose can perhaps be a bit confusing or intimidating as you navigate your new position in the C-Suite. While some students know exactly what they want to achieve at this level outside of the boardroom, others take longer to decide what is important to them.

Whichever category you fall into, IE Business School will be there to nurture your existing passions or help spark new ones. While you embark on your own journey of self-discovery, so will your peers – you will have the opportunity to collaborate and start building your network, which could foster long-lasting partnerships that span decades where you do just as much good outside the C-Suite as you do in.

The Global Executive MBA program will allow you to not only work outside your comfort zone but also plan and strategize for real change, which in turn could lead to a legacy in your name that will last longer than your career. It is about doing Business with Purpose – this carries not only responsibilities of your team, but also to the planet, to society and to the wellbeing of others.

Planet Earth is our home, and it is our responsibility to protect it, along with the environment and wildlife that live around us. Businesses that practice sustainability are in a position to achieve great things – they can strive to create a better world at the same time as driving growth and fortune. It is their duty.

At IE Business School, sustainability is at our core. Proudly carbon neutral since 2022, we are ranked #2 worldwide in Carbon Footprint by the Financial Times for our efforts to reduce our carbon footprint. We are in the perfect position to help you find your purpose and make changes for the better of the planet and the environment.

At IE Business School we champion social entrepreneurship and will give you the skillset needed to lead in situations where social problems arise. But it will not be a simple matter of learning how to tackle problem-solving. You must adopt an entrepreneurial mindset and be ready to take on a wide and diverse range of issues that affect society today and in the future.

Being able to problem solve in the relative safety of your company, where deadlines and targets are attainable with hard work, is not comparable to social issues that can sometimes lead to tough decision-making and unexpected results. As an empathic and emotionally intelligent leader, you will have to develop a whole new set of skills to tackle these issues head-on. But once you have succeeded, and positive results are returned, you will be left with a long-lasting sense of pride and humility.

People are at the heart of business, and we will nurture your performance in the global boardroom while instilling the importance of respecting your peers – even in times of debate and division. At IE Business School, we believe that the people you work with are as important as the results you deliver – wherever you are in the world. We call this Working Well.

Making positive changes in the workplace and offering encouragement and support to those you do business with – whether it be in your office or on the other side of the world. The Global Executive MBA's residential periods will give you the experience you need to work in a diverse environment and in different cultures, allowing you to build bridges of trust and respect from day one.

How can you pursue your purpose in the Global Executive MBA

Learning how to make an impact in the business world is one thing, but finding true meaning and purpose in what you do is something entirely different. Sustainability and social responsibility are not just trends, they are real-world issues that responsible world leaders must tackle to improve the quality of life for the generations to come.

The mindset and behaviors that are imperative to building your sense of purpose include recycling, being aware of climate change and renewable energy, biodiversity, and social responsibility. All of which you will explore in the program – specifically during your residential period at the Oxford Institute for Ethics in AI.

At IE Business School’s partner Oxford Institute for Ethics and AI, you will gain a sense of purpose as you explore the effects of artificial intelligence on society, governance, democracy, the environment, and human rights.

Artificial intelligence is increasingly disrupting today’s society and industries within it, including the way we work, learn, communicate, and interact. The Global Executive MBA program will encourage you to think outside your immediate surroundings and how to leverage the advances of technology while remaining responsible and aware of its dangers. At this residential, you will tackle issues and trends relating to geo-political and social and technological disruption as you seek to find the balance between how technology can help and hinder progress, depending on how it is used and manipulated.

What type of coaching does the Global Executive MBA include?

More information below

As well as gaining the relevant knowledge to succeed in your desired field, getting the right support is vital as you aspire to reach the top of your game. This is where the Personal Advisory Program comes in. At IE Business School, we take support and guidance very seriously and have developed a proven coaching methodology that provides students with a tailored assessment of their strengths and development areas. Our trained and experienced coaches will help guide you toward your goals in five individual Zoom sessions that take into account your personal needs.

In addition, students can choose between two tracks: Leadership coaching and career coaching, depending on their personal career goals. In the Leadership track, you’ll work with a coach one-on-one to strengthen a specific set of leadership abilities. In the Career Track, you will work with a coach from a global organizational consulting firm to help executives and high-potential employees determine their next career move and how to get there.
