IE Law School is one of the first top universities to integrate Harvey, a generative AI platform tailored to the legal sector that is transforming how law firms and academic institutions approach research, training, and the delivery of legal services.
Through this new collaboration, Harvey will provide students and faculty at IE Law School with full access to Harvey’s platform. The program is designed to help students master modern legal workflows and prepare for a profession that is rapidly transforming through advanced technology. Faculty partners will receive support for research and classroom integration, enabling them to bring cutting-edge legal AI instruction directly into the curriculum.
The Harvey Law School Program works with top global institutions to embed generative AI into legal education and professional training. Following rapid adoption across renowned U.S. and U.K. law schools—including Stanford, the University of Chicago, Oxford University Faculty of Law, and King’s College London—Harvey now brings its platform and curriculum partnerships to IE Law School to support the next generation of lawyers, scholars, and legal educators.
“AI already plays a key role in how law is practiced today. Our responsibility is to engage with legal AI in all its complexity, and by making Harvey available to all our students and faculty we are creating an academic space to work with highly specialized tools thoughtfully, understand their limits, and integrate them into the way we teach legal reasoning and professional judgment. This partnership supports our faculty research, reflects our commitment to teach AI literacy to every student, and keeps IE Law School at the forefront of legal education,” says Soledad Atienza, Dean at IE Law School.
This agreement forms part of the AI and the Law Initiative, IE Law School’s flagship framework that examines how artificial intelligence is transforming the legal profession through academic innovation, research, and global engagement. As one of the key components of this initiative, the AI, Law, and Society course enabled more than 300 first-year undergraduate students—along with participants in all the graduate programs—to complete mandatory training designed to build foundational AI competencies.
IE University, recognized as one of the most innovative universities by international rankings, with Bachelor and Master students from 160 countries, decided early that it was all-in on AI. IE University was the first mover in AI and digital technology before releasing its manifesto. IE University announced, in February, a new initiative with OpenAI, a global leader in artificial intelligence development and deployment, to implement AI tools across its entire academic ecosystem.
