IE Law School welcomes its new students
Undergraduate and master’s degree students begin the 2024-2025 academic year.
In September, IE Law School officially opened the 2023-2024 academic year with a series of welcoming ceremonies for undergraduate and master's students.
During these inaugural events, the new students, who came from different countries, received guidance from professional leaders, professors, IE University members, and alumni.
“We need global professionals to face global challenges. As architects of society, lawyers contribute to building a better one, and our responsibility is to train them for it,” said Soledad Atienza, Dean of IE Law School, at the opening ceremony of the Doble Máster en Abogacía y Procura & LL.M.; Master of Laws (LL.M.); and Master in International Legal Studies programs, held on September 3 at the IE Tower Auditorium.
At the same event, Alejandro Touriño, managing partner of ÉCIJA, encouraged students to take advantage of the opportunities emerging in a legal sector in constant transformation, mentioning the job possibilities in law firms, legal departments, new market players, accelerators, incubators, and legal technology providers.
In addition, María José Figueroa, alumna of the Master of Laws (LL.M.) and Associate at Pérez-Llorca, and Alejandro Cubillo, alumnus of the Double Master in Law and Procurement & LL.M. and lawyer at Clifford Chance, encouraged students to make the most of their time at IE Law School. “Go for all the opportunities, participate in all possible processes, and sign up for all the activities this university offers, such as the Legal Clinic or the public speaking club, because they are an excellent springboard,” said Cubillo.
Undergraduate students participated in the opening ceremony held on September 4 in Segovia and Madrid for the Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.); Bachelor in Philosophy, Politics, Law and Economics (PPLE); Dual Degree in Laws & Business Administration (BBALLB); Dual Degree in Laws & International Relations (LLBBIR); y Dual Degree in Philosophy, Politics, Law and Economics & Data and Business Analytics (PPLEBDBA).
At this event, Santiago Íñiguez, president of IE University, welcomed the new students, emphasizing the institution's purpose: to foster positive change through education, research, and innovation.
On September 5, the students of the XVIII edition of the Doble Máster en Abogacía y LL.M. de IE Law School y PwC attended their inaugural session at the IE Tower. Joaquín Latorre, partner in charge of PwC Tax & Legal, and Leticia Ortega, alumna of the first edition and partner at PwC Tax & Legal, welcomed them.
A day later, Ramón Palacín, Alberto Estrelles and Joaquín Latorre, heads of EY Abogados, KPMG Abogados, and PwC Tax & Legal, respectively, received the participants of the Programa Ejecutivo de Asesoría Jurídica de los Negocios during an event held at the Paper Pavilion of IE University.
On September 9, students of the Executive LL.M. Program, a joint degree offered by IE Law School and Northwestern Pritzker School of Law, had the opportunity to meet for the first time. The event was attended by Hari Osofsky,, Dean of Northwestern Pritzker School of Law, and guest speaker Alejandro González Lazzeri. Both emphasized the program's defining feature: the diversity of legal systems represented by the participants.
