White & Case and IE Law School sign a collaboration agreement to further promote the practice of international arbitration law

The new collaboration agreement between both institutions aims to encourage specialization in international conflict resolution and international arbitration in particular.

White & Case, a law firm and global leader in international arbitration, and IE Law School, part of IE University, have signed a collaboration agreement to encourage specialization in international conflict resolution and international arbitration in particular. IE Law School will work alongside White & Case to develop projects and activities that promote this concentration.

These activities will include teaching courses, conducting studies, holding seminars and conferences, and both institutions contributing to a variety of training and talent development initiatives. Moreover, the agreement includes mentoring and internship programs for those students specializing in international arbitration from IE Law School’s Master of Laws (LL.M.) program.

According to Juan Manuel de Remedios, Managing Partner of White & Case in Spain, “This new collaboration with IE Law School is a clear demonstration of the excellent relationship between both institutions. Our shared goal is to develop the practice of international arbitration among IE Law School students.

“Resolving conflicts through arbitration as an alternative to traditional legal proceedings is becoming increasingly important, especially for international conflicts. In cases like these, parties can avoid calling upon a jurisdiction in a particular place, instead opting for the ruling to come from a neutral and independent court or institution,” he explains.

Dean of IE Law School Soledad Atienza confirms that IE Law School is thrilled to collaborate with White & Case: “Our mutual interest in global legal education and promoting international arbitration as an alternative mechanism for conflict resolution is what unites our institutions.  The intention behind this agreement is to contribute to training future professionals in the field of international arbitration.”

The recent agreement also marks a new milestone for this partnership. Six years ago, IE Law School and White & Case signed an agreement to create the first White & Case Award, a scholarship affirming both institutions’ commitment to developing talent and a culture of excellence among law students. The winner receives a scholarship to study a postgraduate program jointly financed by the IE Foundation and White & Case.
