The Sovereign Impact Initiative has been nominated for the prestigious 2025 Earthshot Prize, recognising its pioneering efforts to mobilise sovereign wealth for planet-positive investment and inclusive development.

The Sovereign Impact Initiative (SII), a flagship initiative by IE University's Center for the Governance of Change (CGC) has been nominated for the 2025 Earthshot Prize, one of the world’s most prestigious environmental awards. The nomination recognises the initiative’s leadership in driving sovereign-backed investment into sustainable development, climate resilience, and global equity.

The Earthshot Prize was launched in 2020 by Prince William and The Royal Foundation to incentivise urgent action in five critical areas: protecting and restoring nature, cleaning the air, reviving oceans, building a waste-free world, and fixing the climate. Each year, five winners are awarded £1 million each to scale their innovative solutions.

Being nominated places the SII among a global network of changemakers and gives it access to a year-long fellowship programme, expert mentorship, and international visibility through the Earthshot platform. Finalists and winners will be announced later this year, with the award ceremony scheduled for October 2025.
