Resource Reallocation Across Successive Systemic Innovations: How Rolls-Royce Shaped the Evolution of the Turbojet, Turboprop, and Turbofan

This study examines how firms reallocate resources across systemic innovations through a historical case study of Rolls-Royce’s transition from piston to jet engines. Findings highlight the horizontal transfer of functional modules and integrative capabilities as key mechanisms enabling effective resource reallocation in systemic innovation processes.
