This study investigates the entry of micro players into the market through digital platforms, focusing on the accommodation industry in Spain and utilizing Airbnb data. It finds that high unemployment rates and platform legitimacy drive micro players' entry, and their presence complements generalists, while specialists' entry diminishes generalists' performance.
