Christian Fuat Ecer

Christian Fuat J. Ecer is an Adjunct Professor of Strategy at IE University and a Research Fellow at Harvard University – The Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. Additionally, he serves as an Executive Board Advisor to corporate clients and private equity firms.

With over 15 years of business experience, Professor Ecer has held executive roles as CFO and COO in medium-sized technology firms, Head of M&A and Corporate Development in multinational corporations, and Investment Director in the private equity industry. He successfully developed and executed a high number of corporate strategy, mergers & acquisitions, venture capital, and restructuring projects. He started his career as a Strategy Consultant and Senior Manager Corporate Strategy, specializing in M&A and Venture Capital.

As a Research Fellow at Harvard University, he develops adaptive strategy models and investigates the strategic decision-making of executives, investors, and shareholders on value creation in business transactions (M&A). Prior to this role, he was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Oxford, developing innovative quantitative models to measure the value of sustainability strategies. In addition to his research, Professor Ecer is mentoring and guiding exceptionally talented and curious young scholars at the high school and bachelor level in dedicated programs, fostering their early exploration of academic research and entrepreneurship.

He conducted his Ph.D. research at the University of Heidelberg and Harvard University, studying the impact of investment bank advisors on executives’ strategic and financial decision-making in M&A.
