Minnesota students participate at IE University in a program of cultural immersion and volunteering

A group of students from the College of Saint Benedict / St. John's University, Minnesota, an American University and an international leader in humanities studies and programs in various countries around the world, is participating in Segovia’s language and cultural immersion, under an agreement with IE University.

For four months, twenty-eight American students attended lectures on the campus of Santa Cruz la Real to study language, literature, history, art, culture and Spanish politics, taught by IE University professors.

Students stay in the homes of Segovian families to integrate in the Spanish culture, so that when they return to the United States they have full control and understanding of the Spanish language.

A distinctive feature of this group is its social vocation. "Our students want to thank the hospitality offered by the community service in Segovia by providing English classes and activities with students at the Colegio Fray Juan de la Cruz, where this idea was enthusiastically embraced" says Professor Gladys White, director of this program.

The College of Saint Benedict / St. John's University, in addition to being one of the leaders in international programs in the United States also has one of the most important collections of medieval manuscripts, for which the University has previously welcomed IE professors to form part in their investigations.
