The Institute of Secondary Education "Castilla" of Soria, winner of the VI Olympiad of Knowledge of Castilla y Leon

The Institute of Secondary Education "Castilla" of Soria got the first prize in today's VI Olympiad of Knowledge of Castilla y Leon, which took place today on the campus of IE University in Segovia with the participation of nine schools from the region. The Olympiad, the only evidence of a general nature which is being held in Spain for pre-university students, put at stake 90 young students in their 1st and 2nd year as they had to pass tests of general and specific exercises related to different areas of university such as Science, Computing, Mathematics, Television or Social Skills.

Biologists, architects, artists, writers and TV reporters were some of the "roles" that the future university students had to play to overcome challenges like workshops, laboratories, specialized classrooms and television studios of the private university based in Segovia. Finally, IES Castilla de Soria was the winning center of the sixth session, followed by the Colegio Apostolado del Sagrado Corazón de Valladolid and the Colegio Sagrado Corazón de Jesús de León. The TV test was won by Colegio Jesús María de Burgos, who also won the drawing test, while the Colegio Sagrado Corazón de Jesús de León was the first at the literary creativity and general knowledge test of. IES Castilla de Soria won three events: Social Skills, Maths and Computer Science.

The Olympiad of Knowledge was organized by IE University with the collaboration and sponsorship of the Foundation Universidades de Castilla y León and the Junta de Castilla y León. It is a new initiative as it evaluates the knowledge of high school students from public and private teaching centers from the region. Students in the top three will be awarded respectively 1800, 1200 and 600 Euro, respectively.
